Itinerary:
Day 1: 17th May – Alpine Pass Recon Ride
We kick off with a reconnaissance ride of the first climb of the GFNY, “Alpine,” the place where groups often break apart during the race. We’ll depart from the iconic Central Park, cross the George Washington Bridge towards Alpine, and return to the park to complete the ride. Whether or not you’re participating in the GFNY, you’re invited to join! The atmosphere in the days leading up to the race is electric and will get you excited for the journey ahead.
Day 2: 18th May – GFNY Race
The big day has arrived! We’ll take care of everything so you can focus solely on the race. We’ll meet in Central Park at 4:00 AM for a short 10 km ride to the starting line. We’ll accompany you right up to the corral entrance, and you can hand us anything you don’t need for the race (like your jacket). At the finish line, we’ll be waiting for you with a change of clothes and a recovery drink.
Day 3: 19th May – Recovery ride
After the GFNY, it’s time to recover like a true New Yorker. We’ll do a few easy laps around Central Park on a relaxed recovery ride. After the third lap, we’ll stop at a lovely café in the heart of the park to enjoy a well-deserved coffee. This day is all about rest, and don’t forget, between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM, you’ll need to drop off your bag and gear for the rest of the tour.
Day 4: Poughkeepsie – Hunter
Get ready for an early start. We’ll meet at Grand Central Terminal at 6:00 AM to catch the 6:10 train to Poughkeepsie. Be prepared to ride as soon as we get off the train. This day will be an introduction to Upstate New York, as we cross the Ashokan Reservoir, one of the city’s main sources of drinking water, and venture into the Catskills, the favorite mountains of every New Yorker. The beauty of this route will leave you speechless!

Then comes the challenge of the day: “Devil’s Kitchen,” considered the toughest climb in New York and definitely the steepest. Take on the challenge of completing the entire segment without putting your foot down!

What weather can I expect during the tour?
Ecuador is known as the country of eternal spring. In that sense, the weather is unpredictable, it can be sunny and warm one day and cloudy and rainy the next. Despite this, you can expect temperatures not less than 50 degrees nor more than 80.
At what height will the tour take place?
The average elevation at which we will ride most of the time is 5,900 feet; however, the last stage reaches 9,000 feet above sea level.
Can height affect me?
CLIPPED has developed the tour with a progressive increase in height and with rest days with the aim that cyclists adapt to the height in the best way; however, each person reacts to altitude differently. We have support vehicles that monitor cyclists permanently and can provide support if necessary.
Should I bring food for the route?
CLIPPED will provide you with everything you need (gels, bars, isotonic drinks, etc.). Your only concern should be ride and enjoy.
Does the cost of the tour include bicycle rental?
The tour cost does not include bicycle rental; however, this is a unique adventure and we recommend that you experience it alongside the apple of your eye. CLIPPED will take care of assembling and disassembling it at no additional cost. If you wish to rent a bicycle, please contact us.
After the tour I want to explore Ecuador. Where can I store my bike?
CLIPPED can store your bike at no cost. Get in touch with us to coordinate the details.
I want to bring a companion on the tour; however, they won't be cycling. Can I do that?
For an additional price you can bring a companion; however, it is subject to the availability of the hotels.
I would like to explore Ecuador after the tour. Any recommendation?
Taking advantage of your trip to explore other places in Ecuador is an excellent idea. We particularly recommend visiting the Galapagos Islands (a World Heritage Site). To organize your trip throughout Ecuador, please contact Rebecca Adventure Travel, our partner agency. They will be able to provide you with the best options tailored to your needs.
